Give Back: High School Visits

As a Simple Gifts Scholar, you will visit two different local high schools in Sampson County to share your college experience. You serve as an ambassador for the Simple Gifts Fund Scholarship to inspire students!

How to Coordinate Your Visit

You are responsible for scheduling these visits. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth experience for both you and the school:

-
Select Your Schools: You can visit your alma mater or any other high school within the Sampson County or Clinton City school systems. The two school visits must be at different schools.
-
Contact Person: Reach out to the school’s Guidance Counselor or Next-Step Advisor. They are your best points of contact for finding a time that works with the school's schedule (e.g., during a lunch period, a specific class, or an assembly).
-
Introduce Yourself: When you call or email, identify yourself as a Simple Gifts Scholar and explain that you would like to speak with students about your college experience and the scholarship program.

What to Share During Your Visit
Consider discussing:
The Transition: What was the biggest surprise about moving from Sampson County to your college campus?
Academic Life: What are your classes like? What is a typical day like?
The Simple Gifts Impact: How has the scholarship helped you pursue your goals?
Advice for Seniors: What do you wish you had known when you were in their shoes?

Important Reminders
Professionalism: You are representing the Simple Gifts Fund. Please dress appropriately!
Documentation: After your visits, don't forget to log your hours/activity through the Scholar Portal on the Scholarship Certification & Verification Form.
