The Simple Gifts Fund FAQ Section

FAQs - Money & Disbursement

When and how is the scholarship money disbursed? Scholarship funds are issued directly to your institution’s financial aid office. To facilitate this process, scholars are responsible for uploading their billing statements to the Scholar Portal and notifying their coordinator via email on the same day. Please keep in mind that all supplemental program documentation must be fully completed and uploaded before any funds can be released.

FAQs - Scholar Requirements

What happens if my GPA falls below the requirement? Life happens, and sometimes a semester doesn't go as planned. If your GPA slips, don't panic—reach out to us. We prefer to work with you on a "success plan" or a probationary period rather than simply ending support. Communication is the most important step.

FAQs - Technical Help

I submitted my Google Form (Billing Statement/Freshman Selfie Challenge, etc.), but I didn't receive a confirmation. How can I be sure it went through? Google Forms typically send an automated response receipt to your email if you were signed in. If you didn’t receive one, please check your "Sent" folder or your spam folder. To be absolutely certain, you can reach out to your coordinator, who can verify if your entry appears in our master spreadsheet.

FAQs - Communication

Do I have to join the Simple Gifts WhatsApp group? Yes. All scholars are required to join and actively monitor our WhatsApp group. This is our primary channel for real-time updates, deadline reminders, and community announcements. Please ensure your notifications are turned on so you don’t miss time-sensitive information from your coordinators.

FAQs - Internship & Jobs

Am I allowed to have a job while in college? Yes! We support scholars who choose to work while pursuing their degree. However, we kindly ask that you notify your coordinator if you are employed. Our goal is to ensure you are successfully balancing your work commitments with your college coursework, and keeping us informed allows us to better support your overall academic success.
